The Wicked Aftermath (The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside) by Melissa Foster {Book Review}

June 9, 2021 by Leila | 2 Comments

Grab a box of tissues, a big comfy blanket, a warm drink, and cuddle up to read The Wicked Aftermath. You won’t regret it!

Disclosure: I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

The Wicked Aftermath (The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside) by Melissa Foster {Book Review}THE WICKED AFTERMATH is an emotionally gripping story of love, loss, and hope, with a rich and entrancing happily ever after.

Set on the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the Wickeds feature fiercely protective heroes, strong heroines, and unbreakable family bonds. If you think bikers are all the same, you haven’t met the Dark Knights. The Dark Knights are a motorcycle club, not a gang. Their members stick together like family and will stop at nothing to keep their communities safe. Some of the Wickeds’ love stories will be hilariously fun and deeply emotional, others will tear at your heartstrings and include injections of humor, but they will all leave you wishing you could climb between the pages and join them. All Wicked novels may be enjoyed as standalone romances.

When the person you blame for your grief is the only one who can save you from the pain…

Tank Wicked lost his sister and has since vowed to save everyone else in his path. He lives by the creed of the Dark Knights motorcycle club, sworn to protect and respect his community. He selflessly saves lives as a volunteer firefighter and treats the men and women who work for him at his tattoo shop like family. But life isn’t a balance scale where good deeds negate bad things to come, and one foggy night life guts Tank once again. When a car careens over the side of a bridge and into a river, Tank springs into action, plunging into the water to rescue the passengers. Four people go into the river, but only three come out alive.

Leah Yates is just trying to make it through each day. When the man she blames for her grief becomes the only one who can pull her from the depths of despair, she discovers that even hope comes at a price. Maybe this time she won’t have to face it alone.

Leels Loves Books Book Reviews

Be still my heart.

Something about this book grabbed my attention immediately. Zero hesitation. Sucked me in and held me throughout the entire story. I could not put it down and I had an emotional hangover for days!

I think I have to admit that the Dark Knights are my favorite Melissa Foster men. There is just something to be said about hot, muscled, tattooed, intimidating, biker men, who are as soft as teddy bears with hearts as big as the world. I have yet to meet a Dark Knight that isn’t a knight in shining armor.

Similarly to Tank, I was drawn to Leah. The “new girl” who is quiet, appears shy, and reserved. I could see myself being friends with her. We have things in common and a difficult life with more loss than people our age are used too; she is mature beyond her age, but stubbornly set in her ways as that is what she knows.

Per Melissa’s specialty, The Wicked Aftermath shared an onslaught of emotions – attraction, heartbreak, heart-melting (is that an emotion?), love, sadness, happiness, anxiety, nervousness, apprehension, supported, loved, cared for… so many emotions in one little book!

I say this all the time but regardless of the emotions – the real, raw, overwhelming – emotions that are in this story; this may very well be my new favorite Melissa Foster book and will be one that I will come back to, time and time again. I feel like underneath the story, there is so much more there for people to grasp, to understand, and to follow in real life.

The Wicked Aftermath is a must read that you will not miss, but be warned; a box of tissues and a comfy blanket are required!

A Little Bit Wicked
A captivatingly funny and deeply emotional new standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster.
When the Dark Knights at Bayside and the cast of Bayside Summers collide, sparks fly, and trouble—or maybe love—is not far behind.

What do a cocky biker and a businesswoman who has sworn off dating bad boys have in common? According to Chloe Mallery, not much.

Justin came into the Wicked family after a harsh upbringing by a thieving father. He’s gone through a lot to become a true Wicked, and he’s made them proud. Now he’s ready to show the woman he loves exactly what type of man he is. But Chloe Mallery has worked hard to move past her difficult upbringing, and she’s wary of getting involved with a man who looks like he’s walked right out of it. When tragedy strikes, will their trying pasts draw them together, or will Justin’s protective nature be too much for Chloe’s independent heart to accept?

Oh yes, The Wicked Aftermath left me with an intense emotional hangover. This is the most raw book of Melissa’s I’ve ever read. But I loved that it stayed true to her writing style – the men may seem rough around the edges and scary to some, but they’re strong, sensitive, and always step up when needed. And the women aren’t these pathetic damsels in distress. Definitely one I would recommend 🙂

    Great review!!

Came home the other day and saw an envelope that s Came home the other day and saw an envelope that said "happy birthday". I got excited that someone sent me an early birthday card...

...except it wasn't for me. It was for Gibbs, our husky... who's birthday is 3 days before mine.

Guess that's what happens when you share your birthday week with the dog. 🤷‍♀️
I personally haven't seen this guy in about a week I personally haven't seen this guy in about a week, but thankfully, hubby saw him yesterday and snapped a pic for me. I swear; Bear gives the cresties a run for their money when it comes to hide and seek!! 🤣
The newest zoo member... not *exactly* what I was The newest zoo member... not *exactly* what I was looking for color wise (I was looking for a gray/lavender, and they seem more red), but I am def smitten. 🥰

This baby is a little spazzy at first but then loves to just chill and sit with me. They aren't quite as jumpy as Aspen (and def friendlier! Aspen still HATES being touched!)

Also, I'm not sure they were well cared for. Breeder said hatch date was 9-8-2022, but they are tiny! Not even the length of my pointer finger!

Anyway, welcome, Leif (pronounced Leaf; thank you, Kadenn...) to the zoo!
Releasing tomorrow!! 😍 I cannot wait!! Releasing tomorrow!! 😍

Pics do not do this baby justice!! And Schuyler i Pics do not do this baby justice!!

And Schuyler is so much more chill than Aspen. I've been able to at least touch them daily and last night, they let me hold them!! HUGE difference from Aspen the spaz who wants no one in her space, none the less touching her! 🤣🤣
