ON Fire (An Ozzie Novak Thriller, Book 5) by John W. Mefford {Book Review}

February 21, 2018 by Leila | 1 Comment

Disclosure: I received an ebook copy of this book and have volunteered to share my review. All opinions are 100% my own.

NEW RELEASE….

Rainmakers rule – but nothing influences another man more than two bullets in the back of the head. A beautiful, ambitious woman is murdered. No one would have noticed if the person charged was anyone other than a lobbyist — one of the most powerful deal-makers in the world.

Ozzie is pulled into to help prove the egomaniac’s innocence. Early on, the evidence seems irrefutable…until it isn’t. Could who this man knows determine who lives and who dies?

Ozzie uncovers damaging information. His immediate reaction? Rage. The lobbyist had played a key role in helping destroy Ozzie’s old life. So how can Ozzie now help the man avoid a murder charge?

Forced to make a deal with the devil, Ozzie must determine how to out think the king of rainmakers. And that’s when Ozzie realizes this isn’t just a one-lane game.

Ozzie flexes his own power of persuasion to fight through the haze of threats and outright danger. With everything on line, Ozzie’s instincts take him to the brink of death.

In the end, innocent people will die. Can Ozzie save his family from something he can’t see?

The Scoop

By now you’re probably aware that the Alex Troutt thrillers, Ivy Nash thrillers, and the soon-to-be-released Ozzie Novak thrillers are all under the same Redemption Thriller Series umbrella. Why? Because, ultimately, they all connect — Alex, Ivy, Ozzie. How? That’s part of the mystery that I’m slowly unveiling throughout the Redemption Thriller Series.Through each sub-series, characters from different books appear in the other novels. If it adds suspense, intrigue, or even a good laugh, I’ve included a cross-over character — it’s a lot more fun that way. Plus — and here’s the real kicker — I’ll write a final six novels that brings all of the major characters together — Alex, Ivy, Ozzie. It will be explosive and gut-wrenching…in a way that will leave you breathless. At least that’s my hope.

Starting with IN The End (Nov. 10 release), I’ll be launching a new book every 2-4 weeks. IN The End will segue into the Ozzie Novak Thrillers. ON Edge (book 1), is due out on November 28. From there, it will be non-stop suspense until all six Ozzie books are released. And my editor tells me that Ozzie Novak is my best character yet.:) So, I hope you’re ready for some thrilling binge-reading.

How can you catch up if you’ve started the Redemption Thriller Series mid-stream?

Leels Loves Books Book Reviews

I am trying to word everything so I don’t give everything away.

I did forget a certain aspect at the end of the last book that started this book, but I still had hope and that hope definitely gave me more than one suspect in this book.

I had the suspect in this book figured out immediately, but I wasn’t 100% confident so of course, I had to keep reading.

The book sucked me in – as it always does – and provided me several other suspects that definitely made me doubt my thoughts.

Like so many other John Mefford books, there was more than one issue needing to be solved and we still have one left unsolved that really links book 1 with this one. (Make note though, you do not have to had read book 1 to understand anything in this book. Each installment can be read as a stand alone and John does a wonderful job giving enough detail so you never feel lost.)

I look forward to seeing what the next book holds for Ozzie and am very curious how his relationship continues to go as I have serious doubts about his wife.

Mefford does an amazing job keeping you involved and on the edge of your seat trying to figure out the mystery with him. Almost makes me want to do private investigating – just minus all the danger and pain Ozzie goes through!

About the Author
Amazon #1 Bestselling Author, #2 bestselling author on Barnes and Noble, and a Readers’ Favorite Gold Medal winner.

A veteran of the corporate wars, former journalist, and an astute observer of human and social behavior, John W. Mefford has been writing his debut novel since he first entered the work force almost thirty years ago, although he never put words on paper until 2009. Once he started writing, however, he couldn’t stop.

A member of International Thriller Writers, John writes novels full of electrifying suspense — the same types of books he has loved to read since before he could shave.

When he’s not writing, he chases his youth on bike or a basketball court, all while making mental notes of people and societies across the land.

Tonight, they ate right off my finger! I didn't think I could fall in more in love!! 🥰

...except it wasn't for me. It was for Gibbs, our husky... who's birthday is 3 days before mine.

Guess that's what happens when you share your birthday week with the dog. 🤷‍♀️

This baby is a little spazzy at first but then loves to just chill and sit with me. They aren't quite as jumpy as Aspen (and def friendlier! Aspen still HATES being touched!)

Also, I'm not sure they were well cared for. Breeder said hatch date was 9-8-2022, but they are tiny! Not even the length of my pointer finger!

Anyway, welcome, Leif (pronounced Leaf; thank you, Kadenn...) to the zoo!
