October 10, 2022 by Leila | Leave a Comment

Last Seen Alive is another winning mystery, police procedural read from the amazing Carolyn Arnold!

Disclosure: I received this e-book to review. All the opinions are 100% my own.

Last Seen Alive by Carolyn Arnold {Book Review}

The woman lies so still as her blood soaks into the soft bedcovers beneath her. A tear runs down her face as she looks at the wedding band on her finger. She had loved her husband so much…

When Detective Amanda Steele unexpectedly reconnects with an old boyfriend, the last thing she expects to see lying on his bed is the dead body of his wife, Claire, who walked out on him four years ago.

Logan begs Amanda to believe he’s innocent. But she doesn’t miss the gun on a nearby table, and she’s torn when forensics reveal that not only was this the murder weapon, but Logan’s fingerprints are all over it… Could he have been framed? Or is he using his connection to Amanda to get away with murder?

Determined to uncover the truth, Amanda retraces Claire’s last steps and finds that she visited her best friend the day before her death. But Amanda is devastated to discover that the friend died in a car accident just hours after meeting with Claire. What deadly secret connected them, and could more women be in danger?

But the killer is closer than Amanda realizes, and when her beloved daughter, Zoe, is threatened, she’s suddenly in a race to find the final clue before the person she loves most pays the price…

A totally compulsive crime thriller! Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine.

Last Seen Alive… another amazing read from Carolyn Arnold with our heroine becoming a fast favorite of mine.

Detective Amanda Steele is one badass woman and I love reading her mysteries. The police procedural is so fun to read and the mysteries always leave me on the edge of my seat with several “who done it” suspects.

In this sixth book of the Detective Steele story; a murdered wife of a lover leads to threats, skeletons in closets, and a lot of players in a twisted game that dates back decades.

Every time I started to think I may have figured out the mystery, a twist came that pulled me back in.

Carolyn Arnold does such an amazing job creating a mystery that grips the reader right from the start and keeps the reader engaged through the entire book.

The relationships between characters – Amanda and Trent, Amanda and Zoe, even Amanda and Graves – keep you invested. The characters ARE the story and make it so much better and more fun to read!

The police procedural is one of my favorite aspects of Carolyn’s writing and Last Seen Alive definitely hits the top of my favorite list.

While this may be book six in the Detective Steele storyline, I feel that they can all be read as stand alone. Of course, they flow more coherently if read together, but each book gives a new mystery as well as enough information to know the history.

If you haven’t read a Carolyn Arnold book, you are missing out. You MUST grab one NOW!
