A Knock on the Door by Roberta K. Fernandez {Book Review}

December 2, 2022 by Leila | Leave a Comment

I struggle with the right words to describe how I feel about A Knock on the Door. Read my review as I stumble through my thoughts and feelings!

Disclosure: I received this book to review through iRead Book Tours, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

A Knock on the Door by Roberta K. Fernandez {Book Review}

Lori Crawford’s world is turned upside down when her husband dies in a car accident. After twenty-five years of marriage, she thought she would forever live an uncomplicated, happy life with Jack. But just as Lori feels she’s coming out on the other side of her grief, Jack’s assistant at SpringWare, Rita Johnson, discovers information that convinces her that Jack was murdered.

The two women vow to bring the perpetrator to justice. But time is running out, and their names are on someone’s kill list. The truth takes them down a path they never could have suspected. They set out to bring down one of the most powerful men in the country: the director of the National Security Agency. But who will believe them? And how many more will die before they do? Now, they have to decide if they have the courage—and the ability—to finish what they started.

Initial reaction? “What in the h-e- double hockey sticks does ‘a knock on the door’ have to do with anything!?”

Sadly, I learned real quick and it is definitely a theme in the storyline and one that I know – and wish I didn’t.

My second thought was how the prologue was going to tie into everything.

I admit, I liked that it didn’t give it away immediately. It left me guessing for a short time until the pieces were fit together.

On top of the sadness – and it came up more than once – there was a smidge of romance (which I really hope to see more of), thrill, suspense, fright, anxiety… a whole pile of emotions!

A Knock on the Door definitely goes among one of the top thrillers I have read this year. It has been awhile since I read a really good suspenseful thriller and this one definitely falls into that category.

I am beyond thrilled to see that a second book is in the works because I am definitely going to be reading it! I loved the characters; I loved piecing together the pieces of the mystery; I loved the suspense; I even loved the anxiety and fear that crept through me as if I was one of the characters taking part in the story!

A Knock on the Door is definitely a recommended book for those who enjoy a good a thrill read!

Author Roberta K. Fernandez

About the Author

In her sixty-three years of life, Roberta Fernandez, a board-certified hypnotist, didn’t know that she had a story waiting to be told.

In 2006, she attended a weeklong memoir-writing class conducted by a bestselling author, Joyce Maynard. Joyce worked hard to bring out Roberta’s best work, in spite of her self-perceived lack of talent. While it was an awesome experience to be instructed by a well-known author, Roberta determined that writing about herself was not a talent she possessed.

As a first-time author, Roberta now understands she was simply destined to write in a different genre. She enjoys creating relatable characters and watching the story unfold as she types. Like her readers, she wonders what’s going to happen next. A sequel is already being written as this book is published. Who knows what words will flow across the page in the next fifteen years!

Came home the other day and saw an envelope that s Came home the other day and saw an envelope that said "happy birthday". I got excited that someone sent me an early birthday card...

...except it wasn't for me. It was for Gibbs, our husky... who's birthday is 3 days before mine.

Guess that's what happens when you share your birthday week with the dog. 🤷‍♀️
I personally haven't seen this guy in about a week I personally haven't seen this guy in about a week, but thankfully, hubby saw him yesterday and snapped a pic for me. I swear; Bear gives the cresties a run for their money when it comes to hide and seek!! 🤣
The newest zoo member... not *exactly* what I was The newest zoo member... not *exactly* what I was looking for color wise (I was looking for a gray/lavender, and they seem more red), but I am def smitten. 🥰

This baby is a little spazzy at first but then loves to just chill and sit with me. They aren't quite as jumpy as Aspen (and def friendlier! Aspen still HATES being touched!)

Also, I'm not sure they were well cared for. Breeder said hatch date was 9-8-2022, but they are tiny! Not even the length of my pointer finger!

Anyway, welcome, Leif (pronounced Leaf; thank you, Kadenn...) to the zoo!
Releasing tomorrow!! 😍 I cannot wait!! Releasing tomorrow!! 😍

I cannot wait!!
Pics do not do this baby justice!! And Schuyler i Pics do not do this baby justice!!

And Schuyler is so much more chill than Aspen. I've been able to at least touch them daily and last night, they let me hold them!! HUGE difference from Aspen the spaz who wants no one in her space, none the less touching her! 🤣🤣
